Regarding Bazan:
I don't know if he is for real or not. But I have long imagined that Mexico would open the first HM clinic(s).
A few years ago, during a brief series of interchanges with SK about his "hair cloning project" (Started -ahem- circa 1996...) he wrote that legal and official problems were larger than the scientific ones. (This was 1999.)
I wrote back and suggested to him...Mexico.
He wrote back one last time saying that kind of thinking was in fact in play. He told me two or three years from that time.
I wrote more questions -specifically why he was asking for "donations" to his "hair cloning project" (With a grave warning that if he did not get enough money in donations, it would never otherwise happen...) rather than investment for what was obviously a money making opportunity. Thus ended our conversation.
So a Dr. Bazan is a person I have long imagined. Quietly working away on a technology that is not unattainable. And yes, there could be many many others working away all over the globe. Why not Brazil? Why not Singapore (Where I in fact believe research goes on as well.) ? Why not anywhere?
I have long maintained that there is a risk-reward ratio for Gho, if in fact he wants to be the one taking the victory lap for curing hairloss. I do in fact believe it is POSSIBLE that a Mathew Mac...(spelling) has had a form of HM. Or any Hollywood star. I do NOT KNOW but it is possible IMHO. A Gho might turn down a million bucks from Mel Gibson. But someone else might not because a Tom Cruise would pay a million for his hair and has it to pay. And so, I also thought that the first recipients for HM would be Hollywood. So it has been with any cosmetic breakthrough for years. A sort of niche environment begins and lasts for a period until the technology -be it Botox or HM- is spread around and the cost goes down. But for a star losing his hair, to pay a million to have HM NOW is perfectly understandable. A month is a long time to him or her.
I believe somewhere in the world right now is a working HM process. It might not be perfect. It might not be the Holy Grail but it is an enormous step forward and for many people who are not completely bald it would be a 9 or a 10. For me personally, a less than perfect HM would probably be all I needed.
And so following, if there is a working HM somewhere, then that info has found its way to the glitteratti in LA and then surely some of them have desperately offered the purveyor truckloads of money to be first. Gho has had such offers too, and perhaps has taken them on. Who knows.
This is all speculation. It has been triggered by Bazan. But like Paris, were such doctors not there, we would have to invent them.
Me, I personally do not think Gho has four years to wait and still be in charge. If HM comes out in Mexico and/or Brazil etc. he will have patent battles that are Kurzweilian (Exponential pun there for Smiles.) in their costs. How many fronts can you fight on at once? Ask Napoleon, for Waterloo is not far from Maastrich.
Because if he cannnot fight the battle in Mexico he may be fighting the US then his competitors will see an obvious solution.
If you cannot climb a wall nor knock it down, then go around it.
If I am a smart capitalist, then I create an industry in Mexico of HM. And I turn Acapulco into the hair restoration capital of the world and set up flights everyday with the airlines from all over the US to Acapulco for all the people who want HM. Many would probably prefer to go on vacation for this.
Meanwhile, Dr. Gho's lawyers will continue to bill at 300 to 500 an hour to fight the noble fight of winning the North American market, while that market starts looking at flight schedules to sunny Mexico. They cannot build a Berlin wall to keep that market from going anywhere. And the demand will be such that the problem of getting on a plane to Mexico is not even an obstacle. It is a plus, frankly. I am sure Maastrich (spelling) has its charm but so does Isla Mujeres in Feb.
The North AMerican market will go to Mexico, Costa Rica, Cayman Islands and they will go around the wall.
Thusly, someone like a Bazan -if he is a real competitor- presents a grave threat to someone like Gho -if he is fighting for control of certain markets- because the fallacy of Gho's thinking is the belief that any such market (Europe too.) is geographic. We have these new inventions to accompany the needles for our scalps. They are called airplanes.
Viva Mexico.
