it would be highly unethical to promise to offer this new therapy to exising patients w/o its release being imminent. In fact I find it unethical to collect a fee for a service knowing full well the "carrot" for the service is not the service itself but the promise of a "new improved service" that is not going to be available for years and that by buying the old service this entitles you to a special place in line for the new service. In fact when outlining a procedure to a patient, a full discussion of the Risks, benefits and alternatives to the surgery should be explained to the patient. I would want a patient to know exactly what else was possible and if HM is a better procedure and it is only 2 years away, it should be the patient's decision whether to opt for the "old" surgery or elect to wait for the new surgery. One of the options for all elective surgery is to wait. Remember the first rule of being a doctor is "do no harm." A strip surgeon who does not feel HM is imminent would be excused from offering it as an alternative, but Gho has really created an ethical dilema for himself if you believe the posts of his claims on this board.. It has been stated on this board that Gho has said HM is just 2 years away. To be ethically correct he should suggest to partients that they could wait as an alternative to his HT. Is he doing this? I don't know. It would be informative to know. If he is not suggesting to his elective surgical patients that they could wait for HM, then he is either unethical or does not believe HM is close. Or people on this board have miss stated his claims, he has not really confirmed in writing that HM is as close as we would like, and i am painting him as possibly being unethical when it is in fact the unrealistic hopes of the posters and he is honest to his patients in stating HT is the best option for them because HM is not close. I choose to think he is ethical, he is not claiming HM is close and that his HT is the best hope for his patients for the foreseeable future. That would mean HM is not close for any of us at least in gho's case and we had better understand that, as far as expecting Gho to be the messiah. I think a commercailly viable Hm is many years away, sadly.
