I have to disagree with you on this. I'm short. It sucks. But I'm still complete. I'm 100% myselef as a short man. Hairloss is VERY different. You are missing a body part. Sure, it's not like losing an eye, but when it happens in the late teens or even the early twenties, it SEVERELY interferes with psychosocial development. Hair symbolizes life and sexuality. Loss of it at an age where you are supposed to embrace life causes severe trauma to many people experiencing it. I don't know when you started to lose your hair, but it does make a difference.
Hairloss is a cosmetic issue when it happnes at a later age. But for teenagers, it is MUCH DEEPER.
Listen, there are cancer patients who refuse chemotherapy because they may lose their hair. Hair is more than skin-deep. It's very linkled to how we define ourselves. It's a part of who we are, of our identity.
I've always disagreed with people who blame their pain on others, such as "women don't like bading men, we can't get good jobs, etc...", because oi believe that people who do this are just transfering thier own feelings about themselves onto others. A poster on the support group even said that even if the most beautiful woman in the world asked him out on a date, he would refuse. Our pain is deeper thanthe skin.
It's like being amputated of your face. Living in self estrangement. Not that we should be down about it. We should be thankful that the cure is so near. But the pain is very real and very deep for many people, mostly the youngers ones, going through this.
