Historically people in their teens began having their first babies.

I notice that there is no male pattern baldness in fourteen year old males because those genes were selected-out generations ago.

What remains are males who have a few years in which to find optimal mates and to remain healthy and not have their physical functions impaired from want of hair (temperature regulation, for example, while chasing game).

So some genes squeak through because like Huntington's disease, the bald genes that made it through were not the ones that completely destroyed an individual's chance of having and raising any babies at all--but the genes that allowed some chance.

Such genes take a long, long, time to be eliminated.

Which is why Huntington's disease, which strikes when a person is in his thirties or forties, still shows up.

This is complicated to understand--but struggle a little.
