bring it on. FYI, the only HT surgeon I have ever met was Dr. McClellan of NHI. On the face of it he was a very forthright guy and answered every question or even anticipated any question I could think of (or anyone else on this board could ask) with candor and honesty. No ridiculous promises or outrageous claims. No "I can give you the hairline of a 20 year old." Straight dope, no sugar coat.

Be that as it may, I DO NOT RECOMMEND HT AS A TREATMENT FOR HAIRLOSS unless certain criteria are met. Not from my experience but from research I have done. Patient should be older, clearly defined hairloss and willing to accept thin mature look.

I do get pissed at the frequent mention of HT surgeons as *strip butchers.* Right now, except for Woods and possbly jones of canada, there is no real alternative for men wanting hair now. Are there a lot of unethical HT surgeons, well it seems like it. Are there some ethical HT docs, yes that seems apparent also. Hasson/Wong, Bernstein, McClellan, Wolf seem OK. There is an old asian proverb, "if the only tool you have is a hammer, then all problems look like nails." Well for the vast number of patients and docs, the only alternative to hair loss is strip surgery. And to paint every HT doc with the broad coat of "strip butcher" is unfair and disingenuous. Its the only tool at their disposal right now. give them another tool as Woods may be attempting to do is a step in the right direction.

What do I dislike about Ht industry? There should be a patient satisfactory survey available for the consumer. Example: at the height of the silicone breat implant controversy, did you know that less than 2% of implant patients were unhappy with their decision? Can any industry make that claim of customer satisfaction? Yet the advent of junk science(especially JTR) in the courtroom has people convinced that all women hate their implants(except of course those on the Stern show, a joke for petes sake). That sort of info should be available to Ht patients and the fact that it is not reeks of coverup. Beware of a profession hiding its unhappy consumers. We should have data. W/o info ht is a crapshoot.

I don't have any *behind the scenes* info that you and David and James bond may have. So I distill what I read with some intuitive reasoning and logic and comment when I see wildly nonsensical posts being posted. Why? Not for you JTR, or JeffT, or WB, or James Bond. Again for the umpteenth time, it is for the newbies, young and desperate, who read these posts and believe them as the God's truth and then make lifelong, risky decisions based on these posts. You guys know the score or at least I think you do, but a 19 year old may not. If I save one kid from a mistake, then I have done my job.

What else do I detest? the creation of irrational ideas about what is holding up the release of HM. The idea that HM is here and we losers on this board have to queue up in the long 5 year old line while secretly the chosen ones are getting HM now. Where by whom? And how could this be kept a secret? That would be a coverup on the magnitude of the Kennedy Assasination and the Warren report. Hell Ben Affleck may have lost his rug and the news is flashed all over the world in a nanosecond, but men secretly having their hairlines replaced in a clandestine op is so well shielded that millionaires like Matt Lauer, Jerry Jones, Bruce Willis, and the like are left out in the cold. Thats crazy. If one guy had his full hairline replaced, no way that could be kept a secret. To believe otherwise is paranoical ravings of madmen.

My belief: HM is on its way, but that way is clouded by the very complex science necessary to effect the changes. I have no clue as to when it will be here but my gut says later than sooner. My opinion, no more no less. Readers, don't make plans based on what you read here, make your plans when you see clear clinical results, with before and after pics and a chance to talk to patients who have had the treatment. If there is inside info to the contrary for Christs sake let us in on the news.

PS did not respond to your email cause I have not had the time to talk to any dermatologists as you recommended. I have nothing to report. And I did not realize you wanted any more info other than what I gave you. I did not see the need or value. I will be damn certain now not to reveal anything to you except in the most general terms since you can't maintain any degree of confidentiality. Private emails are that, private, and for you to discuss a private email in a public forum is unprofessional. I expected a bit more decorum from a man with your education.
